Facing protests, Fifa rule cancellation of Confederations Cup
FIFA says it does not consider the possibility of canceling the Confederations Cup in Brazil, at a time when the country is taken by protests.
On the evening of Thursday, it is estimated that one million people took to the streets of 80 cities.
Police fired tear gas and rubber bullets in Rio de Janeiro, where more than 300,000 people protested against the contention of the Confederations Cup in town.
However, the world football governing body said in a statement to news agency The Associated Press, that "neither FIFA nor the LOC (Local Organizing Committee) have discussed the possibility" to cancel the competition.
